Tile area = tile width × tile length ÷ 144. Tiles needed = project area with waste ÷ tile area, rounded up.
Planning notes
Measure the actual area first and subtract large openings where appropriate. Diagonal layouts, patterns and rooms with many cuts generally need a larger waste allowance than simple straight layouts.
- Complex patterns and diagonal layouts usually need more waste.
- Check whether tiles are sold individually or by the box.
