Mulch volume formula
Cubic feet = length × width × (depth ÷ 12). Cubic yards = cubic feet ÷ 27.
Planning notes
Measure the bed at its widest practical dimensions and choose the finished mulch depth. For irregular beds, split the area into smaller rectangles and calculate each section separately.
- 2–3 inches is common for landscape mulch.
- Round bag quantities up to whole bags.
